Chapter 1:
1. How would you define creativity?
2. Choose one of the insights on page 7 and explain or give an example of what it means.
3. Re-read the first item in Torrance’s Manifesto (p. 9). What do you love to do?


Chapter 2:
1. What is your creative process? How do you create something new?
2. Choose 3 items from the “Brainstorming Practice for Fluency” (p. 16-17) and brainstorm as many as you can.
3. Choose one question from each of the four question categories in “Provocative Questions Requiring Flexibility” (p. 18-19). Write down as many different answers as you can.


Chapter 3:
1. How does creativity contribute to successful collaborative learning experiences?
2. Of the three sensory methods for processing information – auditory, kinesthetic and visual – which is your dominant sense? Give an example or describe.
3. How do adults “kill” creativity?


Chapter 4:
1. What is “incubation” in terms of learning? Describe an experience you have had with incubation.
2. What are the three steps of the Incubation Model?
3. Write a lesson to learn anything you would like to teach or present, using the Incubation Model.


Chapter 5:
1. How would you describe a self-actualizing creative person?
2. What were the top four strengths identified by parents in the “Parental Strength Survey”?
3. What do you think are the most important lessons from the “Goose Story” (p. 60-61)?


Chapter 6:
1. Why are creative problem solving skills important?
2. Select a problem you would like to solve and use Parne’s creative problem solving process to determine a solution.
3. Describe ways that you recycle or how you will start recycling.


Chapter 7:
1. How would you use play to teach somebody something? Describe.
2. Why is play important to a healthy life?
3. How do the arts stimulate learning?


Chapter 8:
1. Describe a link between creativity and wellness.
2. How does humor contribute to healthy living?
3. How does imagery contribute to wellness?


Chapter 9:
1. What will you do to encourage women to be inventors?
2. How would you advocate for women inventors to be included in a history book? Describe what you would do.
3. What was the most powerful “Inventing Tidbit” (p. 107-111) to you and why?


Chapter 10:
1. Describe a successful mentor relationship you have had.
2. What is most important for a mentor to remember?
3. What is most important for a mentee to remember?


Chapter 11:
1. Why is creativity important when transitioning to retirement?
2. How does creativity contribute to successful aging?
3. What were the results of the Quality of Life Study?


Chapter 12:
1. Choose one of the “Tips for Increasing your Creativity” (p. 137-138) and practice it for a week. After one week, describe any changes you noticed.
2. Choose one of the “Tips for Increasing your Creativity” (p. 137-138) and create a collage illustrating that tip.
3. Read all of the “Tips for Increasing your Creativity” (p. 137-138) daily for one month and document when you practice tips.
