Chapter 1:
1. How would you define “creativity”?
2. Are there experiences in your life where you could have used your creativity to avoid a stressful situation? Describe one; and how your creativity could have been used to deal with it.
3. Choose one of Torrance’s insights and elaborate on it (tell what it means to you).


Chapter 2:
1. What is Torrance’s survival definition of creativity?
2. What creative abilities do Torrance’s tests identify?
3. Which style do you think best represents each of your creative abilities? Write down a style for each ability.


Chapter 3:
1. Give an example of or describe fluency.
2. Why do you think brainstorming has rules?
3. Give an example of or describe flexibility.
4. Give an example of your originality.
5. Describe a time when your creativity was rewarded and how that felt.


Chapter 4:
1. What does Va-Va-Va-Voom mean?
2. Choose one of the questions on page 37 and apply the Va-Va-Va-Voom process to generate your own responses.
3. Describe how you might use the Va-Va-Va-Voom process in your life.

2. Choose one of the “Questions to Stimulate Creative Thinking” and apply the Va-Va-Va-Voom process.
3. Describe or give an example of ways to accomplish each of the “Five Principles for Rewarding Creativity”.

2. What is hemisphericity and do you think there is a relationship between hemisphericity and gender?
3. Why is incubation important?


Chapter 7:
1. What did Maslow mean by the term “self-actualization”?
2. What would you consider to be your top three personal strengths and why?
3. Would you consider yourself a “doer” or a “knocker” and why?


Chapter 8:
1. Why is play an important aspect of life for people of all ages?
2. Describe how play is creative.
3. Explain how art is an important part of life.


Chapter 9:
1. Describe an experience in your life that was both humorous and creative.
2. How does humor affect wellness?
3. What is imagery and why is it important?


Chapter 10:
1. Describe an experience where you have served as a mentor.
2. Who has been a mentor to you and how was that relationship beneficial?
3. What do you think are the most important characteristics of a mentor?


Chapter 11:
1. Why is retirement an optimal time for developing creative abilities?
2. What was the purpose(s) of the Quality of Life Program?
3. What does the following statement mean: “Creativity is a lifelong process which can be stimulated and enhanced at any age.”?


Chapter 12:
1. Describe what each of the four creativity tips on page 142 mean in terms of your life experiences.
2. Choose one of the 8 “Tips for Increasing Your Creativity” (p. 143-144) to practice and describe your experience(s).
